FastEddy Bearings Warranty & Return Guidelines

At FastEddy Bearings, we stand behind the quality of our products and appreciate every customer who chooses our bearings for their RC vehicles. We also want to be clear about what is—and is not—covered when a customer believes there may be a problem with a bearing.

RC bearings operate in a demanding environment. Dirt, dust, water, vehicle weight, speed, impacts, maintenance, and driving conditions can all affect bearing performance and lifespan. Because of these variables, a bearing that becomes rough after use does not necessarily indicate a defective bearing.

What May Be Covered Under Warranty

If you receive a bearing that appears to be defective before it has been installed or used, please contact us.

Examples may include:

  • A new bearing that does not rotate properly out of the package.
  • A bearing that is visibly damaged when received.
  • An incorrect bearing or bearing kit.
  • A missing bearing from a kit.
  • An obvious manufacturing defect discovered before installation.

If you believe there is a problem, contact us before installing, cleaning, lubricating, disassembling, or modifying the bearing whenever possible.

This gives us the best opportunity to evaluate the issue and determine an appropriate solution.

What Is Not Covered Under Warranty

Once a bearing has been installed and operated, many factors outside of our control can affect its condition.

Warranty coverage generally does not include bearings showing wear or damage resulting from:

  • Normal use or normal wear.
  • Dirt, sand, dust, mud, or other contamination.
  • Water or moisture exposure.
  • Impacts, crashes, or vehicle damage.
  • Extreme speeds or loads.
  • Improper installation.
  • Lack of maintenance.
  • Cleaning or soaking bearings in chemicals or solvents.
  • Re-lubricating bearings after use.
  • Removing seals or shields.
  • Disassembling or modifying a bearing.
  • Damage caused by other worn or damaged vehicle components.

Cleaning and Re-Lubricating Bearings

Cleaning and maintaining RC bearings can extend their useful life in some applications. However, once a used bearing has been cleaned, flushed, re-lubricated, opened, or otherwise serviced, we can no longer accurately determine its original condition.

We have no control over the cleaning products, solvents, lubricants, tools, or procedures used.

For this reason, a bearing that has been used and subsequently cleaned, re-lubricated, opened, or modified generally cannot be returned as a defective product for warranty replacement or refund.

Bearing Life Is Not Measured by Battery Packs

We occasionally receive questions such as, “The bearings only lasted 7 or 10 battery packs. Shouldn’t they last longer?”

Unfortunately, battery-pack count is not a reliable measurement of bearing life.

Ten battery packs driven gently on a clean paved surface can be completely different from ten battery packs involving high-speed runs, jumps, dirt, sand, water, crashes, or aggressive driving.

The vehicle itself also makes a significant difference.

Large-Scale RC Vehicles Put Tremendous Loads on Bearings

A 1/7-scale RC vehicle, for example, places substantially greater demands on its bearings than a smaller and lighter RC vehicle.

Large-scale vehicles combine:

  • Greater vehicle weight.
  • Larger tires and rotating mass.
  • Powerful motors.
  • High acceleration.
  • High speeds.
  • Hard braking.
  • Greater cornering loads.
  • Larger impacts from jumps and crashes.

All of these forces are transferred through the bearings.

Ceramic bearings can provide excellent performance, but ceramic does not mean indestructible. They are still precision components operating under substantial mechanical loads.

Ceramic Bearings Still Require Proper Care

Ceramic hybrid bearings typically use ceramic balls with steel races. While ceramic balls offer several performance advantages, the bearing still contains other components that can wear, become contaminated, or become damaged.

A ceramic bearing can therefore become rough if contamination enters the bearing or if the races are damaged or worn.

Upgrading to ceramic bearings should not be viewed as eliminating normal bearing maintenance or wear.

Before Returning a Bearing

If you believe you received a defective bearing, please contact FastEddy Bearings before attempting to repair, clean, lubricate, disassemble, or modify it.

Please provide:

  • Your order number.
  • The bearing size or kit.
  • What problem you are experiencing.
  • Whether the bearing has been installed or used.
  • Approximately how it was used.
  • Whether it has been cleaned, lubricated, or otherwise serviced.

Photos or video may also help us understand the issue.

Our Goal Is to Be Fair

We want our customers to receive the quality they expect from FastEddy Bearings, and legitimate manufacturing defects will always be taken seriously.

At the same time, RC bearings are wear components operating in environments and under conditions that we cannot control. Once a bearing has been used, cleaned, re-lubricated, opened, or modified, it may no longer be possible to determine whether a problem originated with the bearing or resulted from use, contamination, maintenance, or another component of the vehicle.

The simplest rule is this:

If you believe a new bearing may be defective, stop and contact us before using, cleaning, lubricating, opening, or modifying it.

That gives us the best opportunity to evaluate the problem and help you.
