Breathing new life into old fishing reels... Since I could never find bearing kits for my old baitcasters, I bought a digital micrometer and found it easy to identify and replace bearings. Test casting shows they work well. As far as durability, I'm not too concerned due to the very affordable prices. They are sooo much better than 20 and 30 year old bearings in reels that I have maintained much of my life. Interestingly for some reels, I've also been able to replace the brass bushings under the large brass pinion gear, with bearings. How interesting to find that 20 years ago Daiwa sold me a reel that said it had 5 bearings but only had 4 (including the one-way bearing). Ha! Sound familiar? After looking for years for replacement bearings, it's been a great experience ordering here and fishing again with some old reel friends! I bought extras for buddies who I know have similar reels using the same bearing sizes.
